Worlds season is here, and you do not need a ticket to Brooklyn to join in. Between the international rivalries, prediction challenges and in-game celebrations, League of Legends fans have plenty to follow from home.

**League of Legends Worlds 2026 runs from 15 October to 14 November in the United States, with 19 qualified teams and a final at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.** South African viewers can catch the final broadcast from **21:00 SAST on Saturday, 14 November**. [Riot’s event announcement](https://lolesports.com/en-US/news/msi-and-worlds-updates) and [updated broadcast times](https://lolesports.com/en-US/lolesports/news/worlds-2026-venue-event-policies) confirm the details.

Here is who qualified, how the tournament works, which stories deserve your attention and how to take part in the rewards programme.

### Which teams qualified for LoL Worlds 2026?

All 19 places have been filled. **As of 13 October, Worlds has not started:** these teams qualified through the season, rather than already advancing through the World Championship itself.

Fifteen teams enter the Swiss Stage directly. Four start in Play-Ins, where only one can earn the remaining Swiss place.

| Region | Teams starting directly in Swiss | Teams starting in Play-Ins |
| --- | --- | --- |
| LCK — Korea | Gen.G (GEN), Hanwha Life Esports (HLE), T1, Dplus Kia (DK) | None |
| LPL — China | Anyone’s Legend (AL), Bilibili Gaming (BLG), TOP Esports (TES), Shanghai Invictus Gaming Meituan (IG) | None |
| LEC — EMEA | G2 Esports (G2), Movistar KOI (MKOI) | Karmine Corp (KC) |
| LCS — North America | Team Liquid Alienware (TLAW), LYON | Cloud9 Kia (C9) |
| LCP — Asia Pacific | Team Secret Whales (TSW), CTBC Flying Oyster (CFO) | MVK Esports (MVK) |
| CBLOL — Brazil | LOS | FURIA (FUR) |

The field appears in Riot’s [official Worlds team handbook](https://lolesports.com/en-GB/season/115547545029543948/handbook/115548016979679448). The [Worlds primer](https://lolesports.com/en-US/news/worlds-2026-primer) sets out the entry stages; LOS’s 3–2 win over FURIA in the 10 October CBLOL final resolves Brazil’s seeding in the [official results](https://lolesports.com/en-US/).

The opening Play-In draw immediately gives fans a North America–Europe clash: **Cloud9 Kia versus Karmine Corp**, followed by **FURIA versus MVK Esports** on 15 October. With three of those four teams heading home before Swiss, the opening weekend carries real stakes. [LoL Esports match schedule](https://lolesports.com/en-US/).

### How does the Worlds 2026 format work?

The route to the Summoner’s Cup has three stages:

1. **Play-Ins:** Four teams compete in a double-elimination bracket. Every series is best-of-five, and one team advances.
2. **Swiss:** Sixteen teams compete until they reach three match wins or three losses. Three wins mean qualification for knockouts; three losses mean elimination. Matches deciding advancement or elimination are best-of-three, while the other matches are best-of-one.
3. **Knockouts:** Eight teams enter a single-elimination bracket. Quarterfinals, semifinals and the final are all best-of-five.

For new viewers, a series score and a Swiss record mean different things: winning a best-of-three series gives a team one Swiss match win. The [official Worlds 2026 rules](https://cdn.sanity.io/files/dsfx7636/news_live/faa5ce974e58615911fbee931c6123e2785a8b46.pdf) explain the full progression.

### When can you watch Worlds 2026 in South Africa?

Play-Ins take place at Riot Games Arena in Los Angeles. Swiss, quarterfinals and semifinals move to the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, before the final heads to Brooklyn. [Official venue announcement](https://lolesports.com/en-US/news/msi-and-worlds-updates).

These are **broadcast start times**, converted from Riot’s published US times. Later matches on the same day may start several hours after the broadcast begins.

| Stage | US event dates | Dates in South Africa | Broadcast starts in SAST |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Play-Ins | 15–18 October | 15–18 October | 20:00 |
| Swiss, opening days | 23–26 October | 23–26 October | 19:00 |
| Swiss, later rounds | 28–30 October | 28–30 October | 22:00 |
| Swiss, final day | 31 October | 31 October | 19:00 |
| Quarterfinals | 3–6 November | **4–7 November** | **00:00** |
| Semifinals | 7–8 November | **8–9 November** | **00:00** |
| Final | 14 November | 14 November | **21:00** |

The midnight dates matter: the quarterfinal listed for 3 November in Texas begins at **00:00 on 4 November in South Africa**. The US daylight-saving change also affects November conversions. Times above use Riot’s [updated start-time announcement](https://lolesports.com/en-US/lolesports/news/worlds-2026-venue-event-policies); check the [live schedule](https://lolesports.com/en-US/) before match day.

### What makes Worlds 2026 worth watching?

#### T1 has a chance to make it four in a row

Riot describes T1’s 2025 championship as a historic three-peat. That gives the team an extraordinary opportunity in 2026: a fourth consecutive Worlds title. For viewers, every T1 elimination series becomes another test of whether the dynasty can continue. The story also sits at the centre of Riot’s [2026 anthem announcement](https://lolesports.com/en-US/news/worlds-anthem-presented-by-true-damage).

#### Caps arrives in his Hall of Legends year

G2’s mid laner Rasmus “Caps” Winther became the **third Hall of Legends inductee and the first Western professional player honoured** in 2026. G2 is already in Swiss, making the team an obvious storyline for fans following Europe’s challenge. [Riot’s Caps announcement](https://lolesports.com/en-US/news/caps-becomes-first-western-pro-for-hall-of-legends).

#### The rankings give you a starting point for predictions

On the official Global Power Rankings page checked on 13 October, **Hanwha Life Esports, Gen.G and Bilibili Gaming occupy the top three**, followed by G2 and T1. Those rankings offer context for your picks; the tournament still has to decide its champion. [Riot’s Global Power Rankings](https://lolesports.com/en-US/gpr/2026/current).

#### The Worlds patch could change what teams prioritise

Worlds uses **patch 26.20**. Riot adjusted established professional picks such as Ambessa and K’Sante, while buffing champions including Kennen and Kindred. Our viewing tip: watch which teams adapt their drafts fastest, rather than assuming domestic-season strategies will carry straight across. [Official patch 26.20 notes](https://www.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/news/game-updates/league-of-legends-patch-26-20-notes/).

### What rewards can viewers and players get?

#### Make Pick’Em predictions for free cosmetics

Worlds Pick’Ems lets fans predict tournament outcomes, while Crystal Ball covers broader tournament predictions. Open the [official Pick’Em page](https://lolesports.com/en-US/pickems/115660540725177488), sign in with your Riot account and submit your picks. You can also access predictions through the League client.

The live **Pick’Ems** rewards panel lists:

| Pick’Em achievement | Listed reward |
| --- | --- |
| Make a pick | Laying It Down emote |
| Finish in the top 50% | Groovy Pup icon |
| Finish in the top 25% | Spicy Dog emote |
| Finish in the top 5,000 | True Damage Yasuo skin and Yasuo champion unlock |
| Perfect predictions | All seven Ultimate skins and their champions |

These are performance prizes, so making a pick does not guarantee a skin. Check the [official rewards panel](https://lolesports.com/en-US/pickems/115660540725177488) for the current list and [Riot’s eligibility notes](https://lolesports.com/en-US/news/worlds-2026-primer) for participation requirements.

**Submit your initial Crystal Ball and Play-In predictions by 14 October.** That is the final day promoted in Riot’s [Pick’Ems announcement](https://lolesports.com/en-US/news/worlds-2026-pickems-and-crystal-ball-are-here). Check each live countdown for its precise lock time and return when Swiss and knockout predictions become available. Separate Crystal Ball rewards should be checked in its own panel.

#### Check active campaigns before expecting viewing drops

For viewing rewards, start at the [LoL Esports rewards dashboard](https://lolesports.com/rewards) while signed in, and check the active campaign, eligible broadcast and claim instructions.

At the time of this update, we could not verify a dedicated official **Worlds 2026 viewing-drop catalogue**. Do not assume an older event’s icons or emotes will return, or that every stream awards the same loot. The confirmed reward route readers can act on now is Pick’Ems; any broadcast drops depend on the campaign Riot announces.

#### Earn pass rewards by playing, with optional paid upgrades

Riot’s [Worlds 2026 event support page](https://support.riotgames.com/en-us/league-of-legends/events/league-of-legends-season-3-worlds-2026) describes a free reward track alongside paid Battle Pass content. Progress comes from playing and completing objectives; watching a broadcast does not replace those in-game requirements. Check the client for the current availability and which milestones require payment.

Riot has also announced **True Damage Know My Name Yasuo**, team icons, regional emotes and premium pass offerings. A share of eligible purchases supports Tier-1 LoL Esports teams. After the final, Riot plans a **33% discount on eligible skins used by the winning team**, with exclusions for special skin tiers. [Worlds in-game offerings](https://lolesports.com/en-US/news/worlds-2026-primer).

Collectors can explore the paid [Worlds Unlocked bundle](https://merch.riotgames.com/en-us/product/worlds-unlocked-2026-collectors-edition/), which combines physical merchandise with digital items including a pass, Yasuo skin and exclusive chroma. Those bundle inclusions are purchases, rather than rewards earned simply by watching.

### Where should South African fans watch?

Use the [official LoL Esports site](https://lolesports.com/en-US/) to find the broadcast and current match schedule. The [Riot Games Twitch channel](https://www.twitch.tv/riotgames) is another official viewing option. If rewards matter to you, read the campaign’s platform requirements before settling into a stream.

Optional subscriptions to participating LoL Esports Twitch channels provide chat emotes, badges and ad-free viewing. These paid channel benefits are separate from League cosmetics. [Riot’s Twitch subscription information](https://lolesports.com/en-US/news/worlds-2026-primer).
